About Sport Goes Rural

Sport Goes Rural is a non-profit organisation, created out of a love for kids and sports with the aim of uplifting and building the youth of South Africa.

Our Foundation

•SGR is based on two principals: (1) our love for Sport and (2) our responsibility to contribute to the comprehensive development of our kids.

•Kids from the age of 3 to 17 can enjoy this wonderful and easy way of learning the necessary skills of Rugby, netball & soccer.

•SGR prides itself to teach children a healthy and safe way to enjoy sports. GRF understands that loving sport means enjoying the time spend with friends and family by playing and being healthy.

•SGR is proud to have a showcase of students that excels in the game up to provincial level. Enjoying every moment they set foot on the sport fields and doing so safely. SGR Ensures that the child gets the benefit of enjoying sports while learning important developmental skills and how to be safe when playing sports.

•The SGR programs were developed out of a real passion for sport and children and is improved annually as new training techniques and methods are incorporated into the program.

Economic Development

Transforming Lives

A key challenge in our country is creating a sporting platform where all kids can actively participate on an equal level, in a sport that they are passionate about, good nutrition and teaching the correct techniques required by qualified coaches and mentors.

•Another challenge we experience in South Africa is investing time, skills and proper training by professionals to the South African youth and communities.

•The aim of the Sport Goes Rural is to take rugby  training to our local communities to reach a larger audience.  Traditionally sport has been exclusive to well established schools only or sport facilities – we want to change that. We want to provide the correct sport training by qualified coaches to the kids.

•By doing so, we will provide the kids with a feeling of purpose, belonging to a group where they feel safe.
This could be the opportunity a child has been longing for, taking them “off the streets” and offering them a different opportunity for their future.

•It is our duty to change the current sporting playing field in South Africa – it is the right thing to do.
We have the talent within our South African Youth, but they need nurturing, conditioning & it must be sustainable.

•With the correct attitude & the will to succeed, anything is possible.

Power in Partnerships

Empowering Others

We want to create more opportunities, with the support of our partners and through the Sport Goes Rural, in order for local school kids in established and underprivileged communities to achieve their best possible future.

•May that be through a career in Rugby as a player or a coach.

•The training and coaching the kids will get from a Grassroots level,  through this platform could shape the future career opportunities for the kids.
